THEME
Lift-off – Gaining Speed and Direction for Virginia’s Families 
 
PURPOSE
The two-day event will provide an opportunity for attendees to receive information on services, policies, and laws that affect a father’s involvement in the lives of their children and families.  Attendees will also learn best practices for working successfully with parents in a wide range of family situations and structures. 
 
WORKSHOPS
A Call-for-Presenters proposal review is in place this year to assist in planning the training workshops. Proposals are due by May 21, 2010.
 
TARGET AUDIENCE 
Staff and representatives from the following areas: fatherhood, healthy marriage, family violence, public and private child welfare, child support enforcement, community health, education, court services, workforce development, community-based organizations and the faith-based community.
 
FEATURED KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Vicki Turetsky, Commissioner of the National Office of Child Support Enforcement
Paul McWhinney, Director of Family Services, VA Department of Social Services
 
REGISTRATION
A fee might be assessed and will be confirmed when the online registration and hotel reservations open. Local and state government employees are exempt from paying registration. Scholarships might be offered on a limited basis, similar to last year. Only a limited number of staff will be able to attend from the same office and/or program.
